Chainagram
What is Chainagram?
Chainagram is a daily word puzzle by Paul Ratcliffe that combines elements of word ladders with anagram-solving. Each puzzle presents two five-letter words, and the goal is to connect them by forming a chain of valid words.
How to play Chainagram
At each step, you must change one letter from the previous word, and the result must be an anagram of that word. This means every link in the chain is a five-letter word that shares four letters with its predecessor, but those four letters may appear in a different order. The puzzle provides a starting word and an ending word; you fill in the intermediate links.
Tips & strategy
- Focus on which single letter can be swapped out while keeping the remaining four letters the same, then rearrange them into a new valid word.
- If you're stuck, you can use the 'Reveal 1 word' option to get a hint, or the 'Reverse chain' feature to work backward from the end.
- The game includes a dictionary dispute button (⚔) if you believe a word you entered is correct but the game rejects it.
