If you’ve just finished a Masterpiece Dash puzzle, you’ll see one of five result labels. But what’s the difference between Impeccable! and Masterpiece complete!? The short answer comes down to one number: extra attempts. Here’s exactly how the ratings work and what gets saved where.
What the five result ratings mean
Every daily painting is made of nine pieces. You earn a rating based on how many extra attempts you use before all nine pieces are in place. An extra attempt happens when you try a piece in an empty square where it does not fit.
Here is the full mapping:
| Extra attempts | Result |
|---|---|
| 0 | Impeccable! |
| 1 | Glorious! |
| 2 | Beautifully done! |
| 3–4 | Artfully restored! |
| 5+ | Masterpiece complete! |
So Impeccable! is the top rating: it means you placed every piece correctly on your first try. Masterpiece complete! is not a failure — it means you finished the painting while using five or more extra attempts.
How extra attempts are counted
When you start the puzzle, you study the full painting once before the nine pieces appear. Then you tap a piece, and tap where you think it belongs.
Only wrong placements add to your extra-attempt count. Selecting a piece, inspecting it, and saving it for later cost nothing. The two save spaces let you keep a piece aside while you work on the rest of the board, and that won’t hurt your rating.
Correct placements stay in place, so you only need to find the right square for each remaining piece. There’s no penalty for being thoughtful — the rating depends entirely on how many pieces you try in a square where they don’t belong.
Remember: extra attempts affect your rating, not your streak. Even a “Masterpiece complete!” result still counts as a completed daily painting.
What your achievement history records
Your achievement history records how well you played. It keeps track of the result you earned, with a tally for each rating: Impeccable!, Glorious!, Beautifully done!, Artfully restored!, and Masterpiece complete!. Each daily painting counts once, and your first result is saved to that history.
Important: practice does not affect your score or your history. The Mona Lisa practice puzzle is separate, so you can use it freely without worrying about your daily result.
Your achievement history and progress are saved in this browser. If browser storage is unavailable, the game will warn you that results may be lost when you close or reload the page.
What your streak records
Your streak is much simpler. It only counts consecutive days you finish a painting. Complete one each day to keep the streak going; miss a day and it resets.
Your rating does not matter to your streak. An Impeccable! run and a Masterpiece complete! run both count the same. Extra attempts do not break the streak, and practicing with Mona Lisa does not affect it either.
Quick answers
Does missing a day reset my streak?
Yes. The streak counts consecutive days, so a skipped day resets it.
Does practicing with Mona Lisa count toward my history or streak?
No. Practice does not affect your score, your achievement history, or your streak.
Can I get a better rating by having extra attempts?
No. Fewer extra attempts always means a better rating. Zero extra attempts is required for Impeccable!.
The five result labels are all a sign that you finished the day’s masterpiece. The rating is just a measure of how cleanly you did it — and the streak keeps you coming back for the next one.
