Pivotile
What is Pivotile?
Pivotile is a daily word puzzle built around a board of nine letter tiles and four pivots. By rotating groups of tiles, you uncover new letter arrangements and try to spell the day’s six words. The same board is shared by all players each day.

This is the perfect little brain stretch for a coffee break—easy to pick up and surprisingly sticky.

The six-rotation limit forces deliberate planning, and while that’s a fair challenge, it can feel a bit punishing if you misjudge.

It’s like a daily one-act play where every word you trace is a hidden bonus scene, and I’m here for the full run.

There’s a neat little groove here—flipping tiles around like a sample loop, and the daily reset gives it a nice A-side/B-side feel.
How to play Pivotile
Tap a pivot to rotate its four surrounding tiles clockwise together; you get six rotations per round. After rotating, drag through neighboring letters, including diagonals, to trace a word of three or more letters, then release to submit it.
Tips & strategy
- Check diagonal connections often, since valid paths can move in any of eight directions.
- Use a rotation to bring useful letters closer together before trying to trace a word.
- Plan your path before releasing to make sure every step is between adjacent tiles.
- With only six rotations per round, avoid turning tiles unnecessarily early.
- If you’re stuck on the daily puzzle, use Free Play to practice similar board setups.
