Missing Link is a free daily word puzzle built around compound words. You're given the first and last words of a seven-word chain and must fill in the five hidden words between them. Each adjacent pair of words in the chain forms a compound word or common phrase.
How to play Missing Links
Start from either end and type a word that makes a compound or phrase with the word next to it. Wrong guesses reveal a letter and count as misses, while made-up words are free. If you get stuck, Clue and Letter buttons can help, but each use also counts as a miss.
Tips & strategy
- Attack the chain from both ends: a known word on each side gives you two directions to work with.
- Think in compound words and familiar two-word phrases, not just literal compound nouns.
- Use free made-up guesses to explore adjacent word possibilities without adding to your miss count.
- Save Clue and Letter for the end if you want to keep your miss count low.
- Try Hard mode once you're used to the format: it removes starting letters and all help options.
