Why your XP is decided before you answer
Daily Delve gives you seven video game trivia questions and 30 seconds each. But the score you get isn’t a simple right/wrong judgment — every answer in the game is pre-scored. That’s the part that usually confuses new players.
Each question has a fixed answer bank, and every answer in that bank has a rarity value assigned before anyone plays. Those rarity values are based on how familiar an answer is to gamers. Your score never depends on what other people typed that day, nor on how popular an answer turns out to be in real time.
In other words, if you give a Rare Drop answer, it’s worth 60 XP no matter what. The game already knew it was a Rare Drop before you picked it.
The rarity tiers, from Main Quest to Easter Egg
The XP values behind each answer are fixed. The official tiers are:
| Answer type | XP |
|---|---|
| Main Quest | 10 |
| Side Quest | 30 |
| Rare Drop | 60 |
| Secret Area | 85 |
| Easter Egg | 100 |
| Out of time or gave up | 0 |
That 0 tier matters too. An unanswered question — whether because the timer ran out or you gave up — simply earns no XP. No partial credit, no pity point.
One Easter Egg per question
Each question also has one hand-picked answer that is the Easter Egg. That answer is worth 100 XP, the highest single value in the game. It’s not a random bonus — it’s deliberately chosen from the answer bank and set ahead of time, just like every other answer’s value.
So while it’s possible to earn a “decent” score through consistent Main Quest answers, the Easter Egg is the only answer type that maxes out a single question.
Think of rarity as a property of the answer, not a live vote. The scoring was locked in before you ever opened the game.
XP is distance: every 100 XP takes you down a floor
Daily Delve turns your XP total into dungeon depth. You start on B1 Mossy Cave, and every 100 XP takes you one floor deeper.
The floors are:
- B1: Mossy Cave
- B2: The Sewers
- B3: Ice Cavern
- B4: Sunken Temple
- B5: Lava Forge
- B6: Haunted Castle
- B7: The Throne Room
Because the threshold is linear, your cumulative XP matters more than the label on any single answer. Seven Main Quest answers, for example, give you 70 XP total — which isn’t enough to leave Mossy Cave. Two Rare Drops, at 120 XP combined, would get you down to The Sewers and leave you 20 XP into that floor.
Why a Rare Drop equals six Main Quests
The math is simple: a Rare Drop is 60 XP, while a Main Quest is 10 XP. So one Rare Drop is worth exactly six Main Quest answers.
That’s a bigger gap than many players expect. Since XP determines floor progress in clean 100-point chunks, a single 60-point hit moves you six times as far toward the next floor as a 10-point hit. A Secret Area (85) is eight and a half Main Quests, and an Easter Egg (100) is ten.
That’s also why a day can feel wildly different depending on your answer quality. If you mostly hit Main Quests, you’ll tread water. If you land a few Rare Drops or Secret Areas, you’ll descend noticeably faster.
Quick FAQ
Does my score depend on how other players answer? No. Every answer’s rarity is set before anyone plays, so your score only depends on which answer you choose.
How much XP do I need to reach each new floor? Every 100 XP lowers you one floor: 100 for B2, 200 for B3, and so on up to 600 for B7: The Throne Room.
What is the Easter Egg? Each question has one pre-selected Easter Egg answer worth 100 XP. It’s part of that question’s answer bank, not something tied to how many people found it.
If I run out of time, do I get anything? No. Out-of-time or skipped questions award 0 XP.
