What is Yesternerd?

Yesternerd is a daily package of four history-themed puzzle games, all hand-made and identical for every player. It combines image-reveal guessing with map-based identification and a sorting challenge, all in one browser-based issue. There are ten puzzles total each day, with streaks to protect.

How to play Yesternerd

Each day you get four mini-games: Face Value and Relic have you tear away paper scraps to reveal a historical figure or artefact; Lifeline shows a birth and death location on a map and asks for the person's name; Thread asks you to sort sixteen terms into four hidden categories. Every game gives you a score based on how efficiently you answer across five rounds, with point deductions for tears, wrong guesses, and clue slips.

Tips & strategy

• In Face Value and Relic, plan your tear route — you can only tear scraps touching an already-open area, so a few extra tears can cost you points.
• In Lifeline, use clue slips sparingly; a single wrong guess costs 15 points, same as a cheap clue, so weigh the trade-off.
• Answering two in a row correctly earns a +10 bonus, so staying consistent across rounds pays off more than nailing one hard round.
• In Thread, try shuffling terms early to spot patterns before committing to a submission.
• If you're stuck, the 3-choices option costs 80 points but guarantees you see plausible options — save it for rounds where you're completely blank.
