What is Wordle?

Wordle is the daily five-letter word game from The New York Times that kicked off the whole ·dle wave. One secret word, six guesses, one puzzle a day for everyone.

How to play Wordle

Type any valid five-letter word and submit. Letters turn green when they're in the right spot, yellow when they're in the word but misplaced, and grey when they're not in the word at all. Use those clues to corner the answer before your sixth guess.

Tips & strategy

• Open with a word rich in common vowels and consonants like CRANE or SLATE.
• Spend your second guess testing a different set of letters rather than chasing one yellow.
• Watch for repeated letters late — words like MUMMY trip up a lot of streaks.
