Sown
What is Sown?
Sown is a free daily logic puzzle set in a garden. The garden is a square grid divided into colored plots, one plot for each row. Your task is to place seeds so that every row, column, and plot contains exactly one seed, with no two seeds touching even diagonally.

A tightly checked logic grid that never asks you to guess—every solution is verifiable by human eyes, and the difficulty curve from Monday to Sunday keeps you honest.

A lovely little daily brainteaser that’s easy to pick up on a commute, and the drag-to-dot squares make marking empty spots feel satisfyingly quick.
How to play Sown
Tap a square to cycle through dot (empty), seed, and clear; drag across squares to dot several at once. Squares next to a seed are dotted automatically, and seeds that break a rule turn red so you can spot mistakes. Each day's puzzle has exactly one logical solution, and a new garden appears at midnight UK time.
Tips & strategy
- Use dots to mark squares you know cannot contain a seed—this helps narrow down the remaining options.
- Look for a plot that fits within a single row or column; it can often force a seed placement.
- Watch diagonal adjacency: no two seeds may touch even at corners, so a seed rules out all eight surrounding squares.
- If a seed turns red, it breaks a rule—move it and reconsider the surrounding dots.
- If you're stuck, use a hint: it points out the next thing to notice and explains why that step works.
Frequently asked questions
Is Sown free to play?
Yes, Sown is a free daily logic puzzle available on the web.
How often does the puzzle update?
A new garden appears every day at midnight UK time, and the same puzzle is given to everyone.
Can I play more than one puzzle a day?
Yes. There is an Endless mode with hundreds of extra gardens at four difficulty levels, and an archive keeps the last seven daily gardens.
Will I ever have to guess?
No. Every garden has exactly one solution and is checked by a solver that only uses steps a person can reason through, such as a plot that fits inside a single row or a square whose seed would leave a plot with nowhere to go.
What do the hints do?
A hint lights up the next thing to spot and explains why it works in plain words. If something you have placed is wrong, the hint points that out first.
