Quotedle
What is Quotedle?
Quotedle is a free daily word puzzle that runs in your browser. Each day it shows the beginning of a famous quotation, and your goal is to fill in the last five words. The same puzzle is shared by all players worldwide, and a typical game takes one to three minutes.

Quotedle's mechanics are a reasonable challenge, but I'd demand tighter logic before calling it a worthy daily puzzle.

I want a quote that sings, and Quotedle rewards the ear for a well-turned phrase even when the answer hides in plain sight.

Quotedle fits nicely into a coffee break, though I wish it didn't make me think quite so hard before my second cup.

Every great quote is a sample you can't shake, and Quotedle's daily pick is a hook worth digging for.
How to play Quotedle
A quote is shown with its final five words hidden, along with a word bank that mixes the correct missing words with extra decoy words. You have six attempts to place five words from the bank into the empty slots in the correct order. After each guess, each word is colored green if it is in the right position, yellow if it belongs in the answer but in a different position, or gray if it is not part of the hidden ending.
Tips & strategy
- Use your first guess to test common function words like 'the,' 'is,' 'not,' or 'and' if they appear in the word bank.
- Don't try to solve the quote right away; focus on turning gray words gray and green words green to narrow down the possibilities.
- Pay attention to yellow words—they are in the answer, so try moving them to a different slot on your next guess.
- Treat early guesses as information-gathering attempts rather than attempts to win immediately.
- When a word turns green, keep it in place and use that fixed anchor to reason about the remaining slots.
