What is Pips?

Pips is the NYT's domino logic puzzle: place a set of dominoes onto a board so every marked region satisfies its numeric rule.

How to play Pips

Drag dominoes into the grid so that regions match their constraints — some must sum to a target, some must hold equal values, some must all differ. Every domino must fit and every rule must hold.

Tips & strategy

• Start with the most restrictive regions (exact sums, single cells).
• Equal-value regions force matching pips — use them to anchor placements.
• If a region can't be satisfied, backtrack the domino feeding it.
