Letterboxdle
What is Letterboxdle?
Letterboxdle is a free daily browser game where you guess a movie based on real viewer reviews pulled from Letterboxd. Each day presents a new film to identify from a handful of user-submitted reviews, testing your film knowledge in a fun, community-driven way.
How to play Letterboxdle
You get six tries to guess the correct movie. Each attempt is made by typing a film title, and the game reveals clues through the provided Letterboxd reviews—which may be humorous, cryptic, or straightforward. There is also a separate List Challenge mode where you name as many films from a given Letterboxd list as you can.
Tips & strategy
- Read every review carefully—they often hint at genre, era, director, or a famous scene.
- Start with broad guesses (popular films) to narrow down the year or style.
- Pay attention to tone: a review praising a cult classic vs. a blockbuster can guide you.
- If stuck, think of films with distinctive fan bases or notorious reputations.
- Use the archive to practice past puzzles and spot patterns in how reviews are selected.
