What is Jaardle?

Jaardle is a daily puzzle that asks you to guess the year a historical event took place. Everyone plays the same event each day, and you have a few tries to land on the correct year.

How to play Jaardle

The main card shows the event, and a carousel holds two free extra facts from the same year from the start. You can buy hints — 100 years later, Direction, Century, and Last digit — which appear as additional slides in the carousel. Scoring starts at 100 points; wrong guesses and hints deduct from that total. Guess colors reflect how close you are: green for a perfect hit, then purple, yellow, orange, red, brown, light gray, and black as the distance from the correct year grows. If you run out of guesses, you score 0–10 based on your closest attempt.

Tips & strategy

  • A guess outside your known range (or outside a purchased century or digit) is rejected without costing a guess.
  • The Direction hint only appears after your first guess and reveals the arrow on your latest guess only.
  • Beyond the daily puzzle, there's an endless practice mode called New game.
