Four new mystery charts every day, with the satisfaction of figuring out what the data represents from clues alone.
It Took
What is It Took?
It Took is a daily science guessing game. Each day presents five experiments, and you guess how many of a given item it takes to make something work. After you guess, you watch the experiment run with your number.

Five mini experiments a day is just the right size for a coffee break — guess, watch, and you're done.

Three tries and a sliding scale punish the sloppy but reward the precise; still, the 'assumptions up front' framing does a lot of the heavy lifting.

It's like a daily single with a killer hook — you get three spins to find the sweet spot, and the replay value is all in the past experiments.
How to play It Took
For each experiment, read the stated assumptions and slide to select your guess. Run the experiment to see if you used too few, too many, or just the right amount. You get three tries per experiment, earning 3 points on the first try, 2 on the second, and 1 on the third.
Tips & strategy
- Read the assumptions carefully — they often contain clues about the scale involved.
- Use your first guess to establish a broad range, then narrow it down on the second or third try.
- Think about real-world equivalents, such as how many balloons might lift a cat or how many batteries could boil a kettle.
- Play past experiments to practice without affecting your daily streak.
- A wide initial guess can be more useful than trying to hit the exact number immediately.
