Fermi
What is Fermi?
Fermi is a daily puzzle game that challenges you to estimate hard-to-know numbers using quick math and intuition. Each day brings three questions from different categories, and your goal is to get as close to the real answer as possible. It's inspired by the Fermi estimation technique popularized by physicist Enrico Fermi.
How to play Fermi
You'll see a question like 'How many iPhones have been produced since 2007?' and enter your best guess. After locking in your answer, the real number is revealed and you're scored based on how far off you were, as a multiple of the correct answer. You can use the built-in calculator while guessing, and your daily score is the average of your three guesses.
Tips & strategy
- Break the problem into smaller parts and estimate each one.
- Use rough numbers and round to make calculations easier.
- Think about the scale: is it thousands, millions, billions?
- Don't overthink; your first instinct is often close.
- Use the calculator for quick arithmetic, but avoid searching for exact figures.
