Ballot Blocks
What is Ballot Blocks?
Ballot Blocks is a daily puzzle that drops you into a Google Street View of a U.S. neighborhood and asks you to guess how that area voted in the 2024 presidential election. You pick a winner (Harris or Trump) and a margin, aiming to land within 5 points of the actual result. A new puzzle appears every day at midnight ET.
How to play Ballot Blocks
Look at the Street View and use the slider to select a winner and a margin—for example, 'Trump +15' or 'Harris +30'. You have 7 guesses; each wrong guess unlocks a hint about the location, such as its census region, state, county, or 2020 election results. Win by correctly naming the winner and being within 5 points of the real margin.
Tips & strategy
- Pay attention to visual cues like yard signs, housing density, and neighborhood character, but remember appearances can be misleading.
- Start with a broad margin guess to gauge the area's lean, then narrow down based on hints.
- Use the hints strategically—unlocking the state or county early can help you recall regional voting patterns.
- If you're stuck, think about urban vs. rural divides and known demographic trends.
- Remember the margin is the difference in percentage points, so a close race means a small number.
